Nothing Special

Date:August 17, 2011
Pros: will work as an expensive pm pain reliver
Cons: expensive for what it is, contains nothing more than tylenol and benedryl
In my opinon they are expensive for what they are. The ingredients are nothing more than tylenol and benedryl cold medicine. It would be ok as an expensive PM pain reliever and sleep aid. You can buy a store brand tylenol or Acetaminophen - 500 mg and a whole 180ct. box of store brand Diphenhydramine HCl - 12.5
cheaper than you can for 1 bottle of Percogesic. Always be sure you read the ingredients of any 'enhanced' pain reliever so you know whether or not you are taking a truely enhanced pain reliever. Since most 'enhancements' are like the one you see here or caffine. The only true enhanced over the counter drugs do not exist. Read the ingredients so you will be sure. The only truely enhanced drugs are by prescription only such as Tylenol 3 with codiene. Percogesic will make you sleepy or possibly light headed because of the Diphenhydramine HCl - 12.5 mg Antihistamine cold medicine that is in it. Taking these can dry your sinus' out because that is what an antihistamine does, dries a runny nose. Be careful using it when the humidity is low. It may cause nose bleeds. An experience most of us hate.

I am looking for the ORIGINAL Perco and it is the best for migraines,etc... I, too discovered it 25 years ago and now seem to be unable to find the original formula. The benadryl stuff is nothing.
If anyone knows where I can buy the real stuff PLEASE let me know.

This is a great product -- guaranteed relief for my sinus headaches! But it may not be for everyone.
It's true there's Benedryl in it but it's only half the dose per capsule (12.5 mg vice 25 mg). I'm over the age recommended for Benedryl so I'm very careful about how much I take. I can take Percogesic without getting the fuzzy effect of a full dose of Benedryl.
Yes, I know I could do the same thing with Tylenol + 1 capsul of Benedryl; however, I'm not sure that would be a cost savings. More importantly, when I have a sinus headache, I want fast relief -- not 2 of these and 1 of those.
