We used PUR water filters before and those worked fine. But this filter creates water that leaves a black residue in my chinchilla's bottle. It's disgusting. What a waste of money.

Pros: water taste, Value, no need to buy bottled water
I love this pitcher system. Due to the fridge water function not working, I got this and I am glad that I did. It is simple enough and compact enough for my mom (stroke) to use without being too heavy. Even the pets get this water! Used daily and refilled 2-3 times a day.

If you have tap water that is not drinkable try this product. We have had the pitcher for 2+ years and use it almost exclusively for drinking and cooking. There are only two of us and we replace cartridges about every four months rather than three. Can't tell you how much we have saved over bottled water or bottled water services.
