After reading the positive reviews, I purchased this soap to try it out. I have sensitive skin and usually use Ivory soap which leaves me with reddish splotchy skin after a bath for maybe 15 minutes or so. This soap had such a strong chemical and chalky smell, it's hard to believe it has no harmful chemicals. I have used other soaps like Dove that have a very pleasant smell. The ology soap also left my skin feeling stripped of oils, which is not a good thing. I don't want to end up with dry skin after using a soap. After using Ology, I still had allergic spots on my skin. I tried Tom's of Maine yesterday and it's scent was light and pleasing and I had no splotchy/itcy reaction to it.
This soap is just incredible. I purchased this after having been impressed with other ology products. After using this soap for the first time i went back to Walgreens the very next day and loaded up. I have used tons of good to very expensive other stuff and this soap trumps all. The lather is excellent, kind of turns into a cream. This soap leaves a very good feeling on the skin and rinses off clean. Do yourself a favor and get this soap.
I went to Duane Reade the other day to see if they had the Aveeno for Men face wash which was recommended to me, and they did so I picked it up (which by they way is the first face wash ever to not dry out my face, and really leaves my face moisturized w/out needing moisturizer afterwards, although you can moisturize if you choose to, and they do have face moisturizer for both men and women available, Thanks Aveeno for such an incredible face wash!)
After picking it up, I wondered off to the soap section to see what I could find for my dry sensitive skin. After looking at various different brands and what not, one brand that automatically stood out to me was the "ology" shea butter soap bar. I never heard of it, but loved the packaging, love the fact that one of the first things you read is "NO HARMFUL CHEMICALS", and loved the fact that right before you read the ingredients in the back, there is a statement that reads, "Ology is proud to feature the following non-harmful ingredients", and on the side of that, there is text that reads "Sulfate & paraben free, Vegan, & not tested on animals. My automatic thought was that this ology company is not playing around lol !!!
I immediately went to look around the packaging to see who manufactures this soap, and to my surprise, it turns out that the soap is made in the USA, Manufactured and distributed by Walgreens, I thought, what in the world ??? What does walgreens know about soap making ??? I than started thinking that I already fell in love with the packaging, and also thought about the fact that Walgreens has the resources (as in $$$ cha ching) to actually venture into this route if they decided to, so I thought to myself, lets do this!
I decided to purchase both the Shea Butter and the Aloe Vera & Olive oil soap bar which both come in a package of 3 each, and both are researched to be best for the skin. When I went home, I decided to first try the shea butter since i'm more of a fan of this ingredient. The first thing I noticed when I was in the shower was an incredible lathering that I have never experienced from any other soap. I really can't put it into words, the best way to explain it is, think for a second that you are a caramel frapuchino from starbucks, and then you get lathered with the whipped cream, that's the best way to explain it, followed by this incredible scent which is not overpowering at all, and is very pleasant and relaxing. It was like me, the water falling from the shower head, and the soap became 1 in pure bliss lol.
I've used Loccitane shea/milk soap bar,I've also used pure glycerin soap, and south of france soap, (as well as dove unscented sentitive skin bar occasionally) so I know 1 or 2 things about soap, but not even those can compare to this incredible soap from ology !!! Unilever and all these other commercial soap companies as well as non commercial soap companies are in trouble, and as long as ology never changes the formula to these soaps, and stay true to it, you have a customer for life and I promise word would spread fast. On the downside, it is a bit pricey, 3 pak for 4.99 before taxes, but I noticed that the soap last long, and I believe this is due to the fact that the soap bar is triple milled. Also, Good steak isn't cheap either, so I guess you get what you pay for, and you are really getting your money's worth here, trust me. I know that once you try it, you would never go back to your old soap ever again !!! Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoyed my review :)
